Well, the good news is that upon calling the IT Help Center this morning, I found out that UD put up a nifty set of steps on their website to help you dodge the $70-100 charge and clean your computer yourself. Well today has just been great. I have to get up at 7:30 tomorrow, and I have a project due Wednesday for art forgeries, and I have to do research on my East Enders project, and what do I have to do? I'm still trying to figure out why my stupid lj won't update in rich text mode anymore.  Now it seems I have to enter my password everytime I want to update, despite being logged in, but it won't take the correct password.  So I end up copying and pasting the whole entry and it looks weird on the final page.  GRRRR.
